Siyakhana functions as a change agent for promoting health, transforming communities, and enhancing environments through best practice, applying multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches to teaching, training and research. Our interventions are based on transformative and integrative agroecological practice which offers the kinds of innovations needed to increase soil fertility, raise productivity, improve food and nutrition security, support healthy livelihoods, and build climate resilience. Systems thinking and spatially integrated landscape approaches are used to address challenges at the intersection of the Food- Energy-Water nexus in order to achieve sustainable economic, social and environmental impacts in society.
Afrika Tikkun is an organisation that provides a holistic development model in disadvantaged communities, with a focus on Early Childhood Development, Child and Youth Development, and Career Development, better known as the Cradle to Career 360° model. This model, unique to Afrika Tikkun, is aimed at providing education, health, and social services to young people and their families through centres of excellence in South African townships. Their main goal is to create a sustainable future for the youth of South Africa, and the credibility of this cause won the support of the Patron-in-Chief in memoriam, Nelson Mandela. Afrika Tikkun has four centres of excellence across Gauteng and one in the Western Cape.
